Longview Power Sponsors Cabela's King Kat Catfish Tournament for Second Consecutive Year

MORGANTOWN, W.V., June 16, 2010 — Longview Power (www.longviewpower.com), a state-of-the-art power generation facility currently under construction in Maidsville, W.V., today announces its second annual sponsorship of Cabela’s King Kat Catfish Tournament and Kid’s Fishing Rodeo in Morgantown on June 26, 2010. The event brings together angling enthusiasts of all ages for a day of outdoor fun and friendly competition on the Monongahela River and nearby Dixon Lake. In addition to event sponsorship, Longview will provide volunteers for the Kid’s Fishing Rodeo and commemorative hats to the first 125 children to arrive.

“We’re honored to sponsor the King Kat Catfish Tournament for the second year,” said Charlie Huguenard, Longview Power vice president and general manager. “The event showcases the Monongahela River’s continuing improvement and untapped potential as a local natural resource.”

Prizes will be awarded after the 3 p.m. weigh-in at the Hazel Ruby McQuain Amphitheater in Morgantown’s Wharf District. The adult tournament team with the largest catch will take home the $5,000 grand prize and advance to Cabela’s King Kat Classic 2010 in Columbus, Missouri this November, where they will compete against other tournament champions to tap into a $60,000 purse, the largest in competitive catfish angling to date. Competitors in the Kid’s Fishing Rodeo will be entered to win one of six $2,000 scholarships in addition to receiving awards for participation and the most fish caught. Event attendees will also enjoy live music by the Matheny Family Bluegrass Band, numerous food vendors, a wiener dog race, and competitions for the ugliest dog and best dog trick.

Morgantown’s second annual Cabela’s King Kat Catfish Tournament and Kid’s Fishing Rodeo is one of many initiatives to enhance the environment and help the local community grow and prosper that Longview supports through direct financial support and employee involvement. Longview’s community outreach activities benefit a variety of recipients including schools, fire departments, environmental organizations, food drives, and other programs, activities, and events.
